13 years...
No, that's not how long I've been at my job. It's how long our water heater lasted - until it gave up the ghost yesterday. Twas only a small leak, but you could tell that the whole thing was nastified. A quick call to our plumbing buddies (well, and a lot of cash) and we've got a brand-spanking new heater!

Quite a coincidence. Yesterday we came home to a soaking wet carpet in the den. The hot water pipe coming out of our 21 year old water heater had sprung a leak. The plumber fixed the leak. I've ripped up the carpet and the pad (which is just a massive sponge) and we are trying to dry out.
